Online Tutoring For K - 12 and College Students

There is a very handy website called TutorNext that offers online tutoring for elementary school students, as well as for college.

Math is a fundamental math skill that all children need to learn. If your kid is having trouble with math, you might want to get him or her Online math tutoring from TutorNext. You can give help with math answers and provide sample math problems to work on. They are especially good at providing Precalculus help and statistics help.

Of course, Tutornext can assist with other subjects, including chemistry help.

An online tutoring service is very convenient because parents don't have to drive their kids back and forth to a classroom. Also, children have more confidence when they can learn in their own home. Finally, the online option can be much cheaper than hiring a local tutor.

What's The Chance That The Patient Has The Disease?

Today, I was reading part of Nassim Nicholas Taleb's book "Fooled by Randomness", and he gave an interesting example of a mistake in calculating probablities:

A test for a disease has 5% false positives (This means that 5% of the tests given to those who do not have the disease come back positive - so if 100 people test positive, only 95 actually have the disease). The disease strikes 1/1,000 of the population. People are tested at random, regardless of whether they are suspected of having the disease. A patient tests positive. What is the probability of the patient having the disease?
